Padamshree Shri Anup Jalota
A name which needs no introduction, Padmashree, Shri Anup Jalota Ji, ‘the Bhajan Samrat in the World of Music’, was born to the legendary bhajan singer, Padamshree Pandit Purushottam Das Jalota Ji. Bhajan Samrat Shri Anup Jalota Ji is known all over for his mastery over all genres of music including ‘bhajan’, ‘ghazal’ and ‘geet’. Shri Anup Jalota Ji has performed in about 5,000 concerts all over the world including some in India. Besides this, he has recorded over 200 albums, which is so inordinate in itself.
He has been honoured by innumerable awards for his remarkable contribution in the field of music. He was awarded the Globe Award by the British House of Commerce in 2010 & to add another feather to his cap, the Indian Government went ahead to award him with the Padamshri in the year 2012. The Uttar Pradesh Sangeet Natak Academy and the Government of Maharashtra have also awarded him in the past. He was conferred upon an honorary doctorate by the VYASA University, Bengaluru, in 2013. Government of Uttar Pradesh has declared him as the recipient of the Yash Bharti Award this year.
